Today was an exciting day of innovation and exploration at B-L Middle School! We were proud to welcome Palmetto AI Pathways to our campus as B-L Middle was selected as one of only 10 schools in South Carolina to take part in this incredible program. Our students had the opportunity to dive into hands-on robotics and technology experiences, including interacting with the SC Competes robotic dog, PAL (Palmetto Automated Learner). Through engaging lessons powered by IT-oLogy curriculum, students explored coding, robotics, and the growing world of artificial intelligence. We are so grateful to be part of this forward-thinking initiative and can’t wait to see how our students continue to innovate and lead the way!

South Carolina Teacher of the Year Corey Bedenbaugh made his way back to his roots (and old classroom) at B-L Middle School today to present a SC Department of Education Palmetto Pioneer Feature on Francis Marion. A former B-L Middle School Teacher of the Year, Corey went on to become the Lexington County School District Three Teacher of the Year...an honor that ultimately led to him being named as the 2026 South Carolina Teacher of the Year. We are grateful for Mr. Bedenbaugh's visit back home today and thank him for spending time with our students!

Under the direction of clinician Dr. Augusto Gil, with accompanist Tammy Lorick, these talented students joined more than 250 singers from across the Midlands to rehearse and perform three musical selections. We are proud of these students for representing B-L Middle School and sharing their voices in this outstanding musical experience. Great job!

🚨 Tornado Drill on Wednesday 🌪️
On Wednesday, March 11th, Lexington Three schools will join schools across the Palmetto State in participating in a statewide tornado drill. The drill is part of South Carolina Severe Weather and Flood Safety Week. This is a great opportunity for our students and staff to practice our severe weather and tornado safety procedures so we are prepared in the event of an emergency. Don’t be alarmed! This is only a drill designed to help keep our school community safe and ready. Safety first, Panthers!

B-L Middle School hosted an inspiring educational walkthrough this morning as part of their African American History Month celebrations. Students brought history to life by researching influential African American figures and sharing what they had learned with their peers through interactive displays and presentations. The projects highlighted the hard work and creativity of our Student Council members, Panther Ambassadors, and students from Mrs. Minchew’s 8th grade social studies class.
