February 2nd marked World Read Aloud Day and students at B-L Middle School had the opportunity to hear from two authors via live virtual visits. Lisa Fipps, author of the novel in verse "Starfish," read aloud to students in the morning and in the afternoon, students heard from Barbara Dee, the author of several middle-grade books including "Violets Are Blue" and "My Life In The Fish Tank."
World Read Aloud Day calls attention to the importance of sharing stories by challenging participants to grab a book, find an audience, and read-aloud! The global effort, created by the non-profit LitWorld and sponsored by Scholastic, is celebrated annually in more than 173 countries. The goal of the day is to bring people together through the shared connection of reading aloud in all of our communities.
